Owing to the present recession in the housing market, homeowners who want to sell their houses need an advantage to put their homes at the top of prospective buyer’s lists. There are a few fairly inexpensive options for doing this, such as installing new windows or new flooring throughout the home. As regards the homeowner whose finances are limited, the second alternative would be a preferable choice for winning the approval of the future buyer. When asked, a large amount of homebuyers state that new carpet and/or hardwood floors are one of the features they look for. However, before making any firm plans for new flooring, it’s important to research the current homebuyers trends.
There are trends in what people look for in new home, and what may be popular one year might not be popular a few years later. Take some time to research homebuyers trends, and what is currently popular in flooring. At the moment soft earth tones are in demand; as an example, plush, sage green carpet would make a good choice, as would neutral tans and browns. If a homeowner were to continue researching current homebuyer trends, he or she would also learn that buyers are currently looking for wood floors, with carpet being limited to areas such as bedrooms. With this in mind, consider which areas of your home to install carpet, and which areas to install hardwood.
A fine option for hardwood floors would the most used areas like the kitchen, dining room and the living room. There are various companies which do a a skilled job of low-cost hardwood floor fixing. If you choose to install new flooring throughout your entire home, consider finding a company that specializes both in carpet and hardwood, so that the entire job can be done by one company. You could perhaps get a competitive rate if you decide to the entire house.
Kindly do not forget that falling in line with home buyer’s preferences is only 50% of the battle. While your home may have the features homebuyers are currently looking for, presentation is key. When showing your home, be sure that it is always clean and well-maintained, inside and out. New area rugs are a good idea for hardwood floors, as are attractive, neutral decorative pieces for each room. You want to present potential homebuyers with how attractive your home looks, while still giving them the sense that it would be easy for them to make it their own.
